Borsalino

After 7 years at the Berteil Hat Factory in Paris, Italian-born Giuseppe Borsalino was declared a qualified Master Hatter. In the mid-1800s, he returned to Italy to open his own workshop alongside his brother, Lazzaro. When the company won the Grand Prix at the Exposition Universelle de Paris in the early 1900s, it was evident that Giuseppe’s son Teresio inherited not only his father’s business, but his unmatched skills, as well. To this day, Borsalino maintains its original production method passed down through generations, a meticulous 50-stage, 7-week process that ensures its legendary quality. Borsalino’s mastery of hat-making utilizes the best qualities of both modern and traditional craftsmanship, alternating between hand-work and man-operated machinery. In 2007, Borsalino celebrated 150 years in Vittorio Emanuele Gallery in Milan, paying tribute to its founders with limited edition hats named “Giuseppe” and “Teresio.”
