This holiday, I've been digging into some guilty pleasure reading like Always Pack A Party Dress, a memoir by Amanda Brooks. I love her voice and sense of self. Her styling tips to live by are totally on mark (I would expect nothing less from the creative director of Barney's). One particular chapter focused on what she calls "Bells & Whistles." They are the key whimsical pieces that would make her look a bit more unexpected. When she was just starting out, she didn't have a disposable income so she had to focus on investing on clothing staples in black, but it was shopping for these Bells & Whistles that allowed her to have some fun. It really is all about infusing a look with some personality and I think that's why I love special shoes and accessories. They are crucial.
